Exterior Inspection

  • Visual inspection of siding, roof and gutters for obvious issues (from ground level)
  • Check doors and windows for signs of break-in
  • Inspect for signs of vandalism
  • Check outdoor lights are working properly
  • Packages, newspapers, mail and flyers removed from mailbox and front door
  • Disconnect all garden hoses to prevent freezing in winter
  • Inspect for obvious insect infestation or pest presence
  • Monitor grounds to maintain landscaping

Keyholder

  • Hold key for an emergency while away
  • Meet repairmen or contractors
  • Mail items left behind
  • Start, run and drive vehicles (additional charge)

Prepare Home

  • Basic housecleaning and home prep for your return home
  • Prepare home for your departure
  • Grocery shop for items required for your return

Emergencies

  • Inspect the property after severe storms
  • Flooding
  • Take photos for insurance
  • Refer repairmen and confirm repair has been executed
  • Respond to alarm system emergencies

 Interior Inspection

  • Inspect for obvious insect infestation or pest presence
  • Replace bulbs
  • Check breaker box for tripped circuits
  • Ceilings and baseboards checked for obvious signs of water or moisture
  • Inspect all doors/windows that they are secured
  • Run sinks, garbage disposal, bath tubs and showers
  • Flush stagnant water in all toilets
  • Check for dripping faucets or obvious leaking pipes
  • Remove water stains in toilet due to residual water
  • Verify thermostat and humidifier are functioning properly and at correct settings
  • Check water heater for leaks
  • Check that refrigerator and freezer are cooling
  • Unplug all appliances
  • Run dishwasher on rinse cycle to run water through lines monthly
  • Disconnect washer and dryer. May reconnect to run washing machine monthly through rinse cycle if requested.
  • Inspect air filters and change if required
  • Change out batteries in fire/smoke/CO2 alarms when required

For our Home Watch checks, we use the HomeWatchIT Reporting System.  This software is the best in the Home Watch industry and provide the capability to report:

  • Our findings based on a checklist, customized to your needs based on industry best practices.
  • The time and GPS location when we checked your home.
  • Capability to take pictures of problems or potential problems and include them in our report.
  • A report emailed to you at the conclusion of our check with the status of each item checked.
